March Mood: Growth + Fruition

"Spring is the time of plans and projects." -Leo Tolstoy

Doesn't it feel good? March is here, and our first taste of spring is right around the corner. The sun is staying out longer and warming our skin, the grass is becoming lush and green again. This month, this season, represents new life and energy. Everything is blooming–growing and becoming.

As I was thinking about what March would mean for me, it was the colors that came first. Shades of green and white. Green for growth, vitality, and life. White for authenticity and brilliance.

This month, I'm focusing on two things: growth and fruition.

We should be embracing growth 365 days of the year, but sometimes going out and deliberately tending to your garden is important. I wanted to align with the transition of the seasons and reflect what's going on around me.

Lately, I've been shedding a lot in order to grow, similar to the way gardeners will prune flowers and pluck out weeds to give the buds space to bloom. Many think that this work solely involves "cancelling", removing people and things externally that don't match your energy. But there are also internal weeds and thorns that must be tended to. I'm at a point where embracing things that challenge me and maybe even break down my reality are very important. I think that the process of unlearning (bad habits, mindsets, beliefs, ideas, etc.) forces you to expand farther than you ever have before.

I'm also starting to see a lot of the work I put in a long time ago begin to bear its fruits. In many ways, my life is blooming already. On March 1st, I received the most amazing news that I was accepted to go on a study abroad for Paris. This is something I've dreamed about for a really long time, and I put so much thought and passion into the application process. A lot of other things have come to fruition as well, and I can't help but notice how perfectly timed they are. I am practicing mindfulness because we often don't take the time to appreciate the moments when we are exactly who and where we hoped we would be a long time ago. The route here was anything but straight, but all is "gently and steadily coming together" as my mom would say.

This is also the time to start planting more seeds while I feel renewed and highly motivated. I have to think about where I want to go next and how I can build on what I already have. As I continue to discover my depths and the essence of who I am, I will attract what speaks to my most authentic self.

What's your mood for March? What are you hoping to accomplish this month?
